According to the ZOE COVID symptoms study app, headache is the most commonly reported and "top" sign of COVID-19 seen across 69 percent of patients who have contributed to their app.
The distressing symptom is said to be more common than the classic COVID symptoms, according to the health body.
Many other studies in the past have recognized headache as one of the leading symptoms of the virus. COVID headache is believed to showcase at the beginning of the illness and is said to linger on long after the patient is recovered, making it a common long COVID symptom.
However, the ZOE study app explains, "Our data shows that these headaches often come and go, but thankfully they gradually reduce over time."
